Introduction
Drone Research and Application Centre (DRAC) is the first centre of its kind in Sarawak with the aim to spearhead the introduction of drone applications and training. The centre was established through collaborative efforts between University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) and its partners from Taiwan, namely Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) and GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology Inc, who are equipped with cutting-edge knowledge in drone training, application research and manufacturing.
The setting up of DRAC was also in line with the roadmap and aspirations of the Sarawak Digital Economy initiative. By leveraging on the experience and expertise of the Taiwanese partners, DRAC aims to collaborate with the relevant government agencies and industry players to explore and develop applications that can provide value in potential markets like precision agriculture, land and surveying, security, logistics, tourism and construction.
Objectives:
- To provide training for drone related operations
- To provide research in drone technology
- To develop drone related applications for civilian and commercial uses
